The Specimen

A top specialist at the Central Zoo receives a package from Afghanistan containing a creature believed to have been extinct for a long time. The last time this animal—something like a rat—was seen alive was almost two hundred years ago. The package included a “cover letter”: strange images on an oil-stained sheet of paper. In them, bearded men kill women, and children cut the throats of old men. The picture brutalizes your eyes with all shades of red, symbolizing blood… The only thing the zoologist manages to learn about the unknown creature is that it likes raw meat with blood and never sleeps.

Further research couldn’t be carried out because the creature escaped from the laboratory…
