July 1943, the Battle of Kursk. A turning point of the Great Patriotic War. Gathering enormous forces—up to a million soldiers, about three thousand tanks, self-propelled guns, and assault artillery—Hitler’s forces try to break through the front and regain strategic initiative.
At the point of the main strike are the formidable Pz.VI Tiger tanks of the elite division “Grossdeutschland” (“Great Germany”). The German tank aces are confident in their superiority over the “Ivans.” They are sure in the “military genius of the Führer” and the swift victory of the Reich. Their seemingly invulnerable “Tigers,” with 100-millimeter armor, powerful guns, and unsurpassed Zeiss optics, are meant to smash any defense… But here, at the Kursk bulge, the wedge meets the stone! Here the Red Army will break the backbone of the Wehrmacht. Here the Russian “beast hunters” will tame the Nazi “menagerie” and knock out the steel fangs of the Panzerwaffe!
