In the work “The Experience of the History of Eurasia from the Mid-Sixth Century to the Present,” G. V. Vernadsky discusses the distinctive features of Russia’s historical development and the interaction of natural and social factors in Russian history. In Vernadsky’s view, Russian historical scholarship became overly engrossed in studying the role of the Orthodox Church and the Byzantine spiritual legacy, while the defining source of Russian state organization is the so-called “Tatar” source.
