Onyushka. A strange name for a girl born, it would seem, into a simple peasant family. Only Onyushka’s mother was a healer, and so were her grandmother and great-grandmother. And at baptism, the girl was given the name Anna—yet in her native family she was called Onyushka. The girl’s fate with an inherited gift of a healer was anything but easy: World War I, revolution, bandits, the loss of loved ones. And through all those hard times, amber beads gave her strength— the only thing left from her mother.
