A London lobbyist firm tells Alex Evans that his sister, Vicky, drowned in an icy lake in Lapland—apparently an accident. At the winter resort Coppé, where Vicky worked, he meets Agatha Koskinen, the local police chief, who is sure that it was murder. Alex learns that this isn’t the first disappearance of a woman in the small northern town, and, suspecting that he’s being kept in the dark, tries to find out the truth on his own. Untangling a web of secrets and intrigues, he starts to see not only his sister, but also himself, in a new light.
