Cursed Days

"Cursed Days" is the last of the books Ivan Alekseevich wrote in his homeland, before immigrating. It tells of the revolutionary days of 1918–1919. Vividly drawn is the image of the people—“fighters,” “scoundrels,” and the whole entourage of Bunin’s family in this period. The events and their moral and real subtext are characterized clearly. Even just to learn the author’s opinion and see what happened through the eyes of a writer who defended human values in conditions where morality was absent and being replaced, it’s worth reading this book.
