“One-Story America” is a travel sketchbook written by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov.
Four (both authors and the married couple Adams from New York) crossed America from the Atlantic to the Pacific and back in a brand-new Ford in a “noble mouse color” over the course of two months (late 1935—early 1936). On the pages of the book, the authors reveal with depth, detail, and humor the everyday life of Americans of that time.
