A delicate, lyrical story about trying to change your life and fight for your own happiness.
Hortense lives in Paris and teaches at a ballet school. A steady, rather dull life is only somewhat brightened by Emeric. The truth is, Emeric is married, and their meetings are filled with passion—exactly enough to be paired with the ache of an inevitable parting and a sense of hopelessness: he doesn’t plan to leave his wife. Not that it’s a very happy life, but it is fairly pleasant, even comfortable in some ways—until, after Hortense injures her ankle, she is forced to return to the house in Provence where she grew up, a place that still holds the warmth of her parents, who died four years ago. Here she will have to look at her life in a new way and try, from a clean slate, to build her path to happiness.
