After spending fourteen years in the bustling center of Seoul, the Buddhist monk Pogeon returns to a secluded mountain temple. Once, this was exactly what he wanted: a steady, contemplative life away from the noise. But very soon, a self-assured white-and-russet cat appears at the door of his cell—and with every part of its appearance makes it clear that it has chosen Pogeon as its companion.
«One day a cat came to me» is a story about the touching friendship between the monk and Nya the cat, told through tales, drawings, and photographs. Along with it come reflections that arise from this closeness: about life, love, and forgiveness, about living in harmony with nature, about finding oneself in the world, and about the echoes between Eastern and Western wisdom. And, of course, about the fact that love—even with all the worries it brings—remains the main support of human existence.
