In 2020 Russia abolishes money. Everywhere people queue up—for currency, for groceries, for medicine. Everyone rushes to spend their savings as quickly as possible, because tomorrow they won’t be needed by anyone. Lena is bewildered: she’s against the reforms, but she has no time to protest. On her shoulders are two sons, and help from her ex-husband can’t be expected. She has to think for three and keep going. Amid the apocalyptic chaos of cashless Russia, Lena searches for herself—and above all, for happiness. “A Queue for Happiness” is not really about money, even though it seems to be the center of the whole plot. This story is about people: their habits, desires, and the human nature that will remain the same even if the world around it changes irrevocably. © Lada Kutuzova The work is recorded by VIMBO Audio Publishing ©&℗ LLC “Vimbo”, 2022 Producers: Vadim Bukh, Mikhail Litvakov
