The Rite

A deserted village deep in the Kirov region, ritual pine trees, a living cemetery—Tonya wanted to forget it all like a terrible nightmare, and she almost had, if not for a phone call from her sister-in-law twenty years later that made her remember both a happy marriage and her escape from that strange village. In that village the sun doesn’t shine, there are no children, and beside every hut the residents plant pines. And now Tonya has to return: her first and only love, her husband is dying. To save him, she must perform an impossible and savage ritual.
