Fannie Flagg is an American actress, screenwriter, and writer. As a film screenwriter, she was nominated for an “Oscar” for a movie based on her own novel “Fried Green Tomatoes” (1991). In one of her latest interviews, Fannie Flagg stated that “About What the Whole Town’s Talking About” will be the last novel of her writing career. In this book, she tells the story of a small American town: from its founding to the present day. A wonderful storyteller, Fannie Flagg created an entire world populated by ordinary people—but so cozy and charming that readers can’t help wanting to move into it. The new novel could be called a guide to Fannie Flagg’s work: it brings together characters from many of her books—from “Fried Green Tomatoes” to “Driving in the Gas Station Only Girls.” It’s a gift for everyone who agrees with Fannie’s sentiment: “Life is a gift, and love is immortal.”
From an interview with the author: “I was interested in writing the story of a small town, so typical of America. I wanted to follow its history from the moment it was founded into the future—because in many ways it’s the story of America itself.”
