If my first book managed to make you laugh—great. If, after reading it, you felt that psychiatrists have become at least a bit closer and more familiar—or at least clearer, and not all of them are completely out of their minds—that’s simply wonderful. And if, after meeting the characters in these funny tales, you overcame your fear and alienation toward our patients, then my task is almost done. So let’s reinforce what we’ve covered by finding something funny in sadness—or just in everyday life. And let’s try to make psychiatrists truly feel like family. That’s an order.
