Description
This course provides a very detailed and in-depth analysis of the philosophical concepts of the 17th and 18th centuries.

At the center are the figures of F. Bacon, T. Hobbes, R. Descartes, B. Spinoza, G. Leibniz, J. Locke, J. Berkeley, D. Hume, and G. Vico. A thorough analysis of various aspects of Enlightenment philosophy is presented, and the philosophical ideas of the largest and most significant representatives of this current are discussed.

The recurring idea is that this philosophy (= the Modern Age) positioned itself precisely as a scientific system. That’s why different aspects of the relationship between science and philosophy of the Modern Age are revealed in detail, and the forms and consequences of their mutual influence are shown.

Of course, ontology and epistemology are at the center of attention, but their views in the fields of anthropology and social thought are also analyzed. In presenting the material, the author of these lectures tried to adhere to the principle of integrity and systematicity, running through everything the thought that, despite certain differences in approaches and reasoning, all these thinkers were representatives of a single era—the Modern Age. In other words, in general they expressed some common principles and ideas of that period (each in his own way, of course)—the spirit of the age, a certain paradigm.

Some facts, evaluations, and reflections are provided that are not found in popular textbooks and manuals. That is, of course, this course is primarily for those who would like to study, more deeply, in detail, and in a comprehensive, integrated way, the development of philosophical thought of this time.

This material may be useful for students, but also for everyone who wants to broaden their horizons, expand their erudition, and engage in philosophical self-education.
