For Bulgaria, Bogomil Raynov is one of the country’s main “export” writers. He is rightly considered one of the most popular Bulgarians in the world. He was especially loved in the countries of the former socialist bloc.
The hero of Bogomil Raynov’s spy detective novels, super-spy Emil Boev, was a figure in the Soviet Union no less cult than Stirlitz. And if we cast aside the political coloring of Bogomil Raynov’s works that was inevitable for that time, it can be said that no one wrote better than he did about intelligence agents in the countries of the former socialist camp.
