Night Outside the Law—that is what a lottery of death, gaining popularity on the Internet, is called. Anyone can submit the name of a person they believe doesn’t deserve to live. The result is announced at a symbolic time—August 8 at 8:08 p.m. Now two victims are known and hunted. These people can be not only killed with impunity, but also awarded a prize—10 million euros—for doing so. Benjamin Rüman, an unemployed musical failure, suddenly understands—unexpectedly for himself—that he is one of the doomed. In a hopeless situation, he is forced to continue taking part in the crazy game, because otherwise his daughter will die from the poison.
