Can you marry a man you’ve never seen? In 1918, three Korean women leave their homes and set off on a fateful journey to Hawaii: they decide to marry after only seeing photographs of their supposed husbands.
Each of the girls runs to the other end of the world in search of a better life, but soon their dreams fall apart. Honjchu’s chosen one is thirty years older than in the photo. Sonhwa is married off to a lazy drunkard. And Podyul—though she made a good match—still isn’t happy: her fiancé Tae-hwan agreed to the wedding not of his own free will.
But there’s no way back. Now the friends must get used to a new reality and start all over from a clean slate.
