Yuri Trifonov’s books are well known to readers. A large place in the writer’s work is occupied by the historical theme. In 1973, his novel “Neterpenie” (“Impatience”) was published—about the life and activities of Andrey Zhelyabov and the Narodnaya Volya revolutionaries. Y. Trifonov created a picture of heroic struggle of “Narodnaya Volya” against tsarism. Intense work of thought, a sense of moral responsibility for what the revolutionaries do, their insights and mistakes are given equal weight alongside descriptions of their daring exploits and the difficult “black” labor needed to carry them out.
