Description
“(Un)freedom” is the debut novel by the well-known journalist, court correspondent, literary critic, and book blogger Sergey Lebedenco—about the seductive but so destructive power of authority. The fates of the main characters—journalist Oleg, student Sasha, and judge Marina—are united by the famous “theatrical case.” Sasha tries to free her father from a colony; he was arrested after a random detention. Oleg dreams of becoming a lawyer and writes court reports. Marina is preparing to lead one of the Moscow courts. But all the characters’ attempts lead to an unpredictable result… The original interpretation of the sensational scandal exposes the struggle between law-enforcement forces, businessmen, and officials for power and control over people’s minds—and shows how clashes within power structures break the lives of ordinary citizens.
