Description
In 1957, Jung predicted that the influence of mass psychology would grow stronger, increasingly subordinating the individual and blurring their uniqueness.

“Present and Future” (another title — “The Undiscovered Self”) is his address to humanity: a warning about this threat and an attempt to outline ways to preserve oneself in a world where a person’s identity risks turning into a faceless part of a mechanism.

The book also includes the text “Symbols and the Interpretation of Dreams” — about how, through dreams, one can restore contact with their unconscious.

“Present and Future,” also known as “The Undiscovered Self,” is one of the rare works by Jung written not only for specialists, but for a broad readership as well. Seeing how, even in his time (the article was created in 1957), mass psychology was already displacing and suppressing the individual principle—and assuming that this process would intensify in the future—Jung considered it necessary to warn people about the looming danger and to outline possible paths for survival in a society where individuality is being erased.

The collection also includes the work “Symbols and the Interpretation of Dreams,” in which Jung discusses the fundamentals of interacting with the unconscious through dream interpretation.
