Since the Shadows disappeared, the life of Reader Syl Marans has resembled one endless, tedious dream. Everything changes when a series of monstrous murders sweeps across the capital. The police are at a loss, suspecting a connection to the leyrs—people who have been gone for a long time. Syl takes up the case, not realizing into what kind of swamp she is about to sink.
