Description
The story takes place in a parallel world where science is fused with magic, and supernatural abilities have long ceased to surprise anyone. Their bearers are divided into two categories: espers—who, as a result of directed mutation, received one, though powerful, gift—and mages, who may be weaker, but have a much wider range of possibilities. Young espers from all over Japan are gathered into a single educational center—Academy City. There the main character, Tomа Kamidzё, studies.
His gift is quite strange: his right hand is a universal negator, meaning it nullifies any para-physical, magical, or divine effects. Therefore, Tomа believes that the few crumbs of happiness sent by fate simply never reach him, and his whole life is one big string of misfortune (this is his favorite phrase). Something will happen: a phone call steps on him; he’ll end up contacting the wrong guys; he’ll find, on the railing of his own balcony, a surprisingly cute and hungry young creature in a monk’s outfit…
