An allegorical tale about how, under the unbearable conditions of late Soviet society, many of its best people grow certain “wings” (which society considers a disease). And on those wings, again entirely against their will and desire, these people fly far beyond the country—without even knowing where they will end up. The personal tragedy of the main hero, who suffers under the monstrous late-Soviet everyday life but does not want to fly anywhere, and in the last days left to him tries to do as much as possible for his wife and son—who have no intention of growing wings.
