For 16 years, Lawrence Rees met with numerous eyewitnesses and participants of World War II, including former Nazis who had taken refuge in different countries around the world, and conducted interviews with them. The result of this titanic work was the multi-part documentary film for the BBC, “Nazis: A Warning from History,” which received a number of prestigious international awards and is considered one of the most famous documentaries in history. The book written based on the film is an independent and significant historical work and tells of countless crimes against humanity committed by Nazis of various ranks. A substantial portion of the book is devoted to the atrocities of Hitler’s men during the war against the Soviet Union.
