2024 is the year of the thirtieth anniversary of palliative care in Moscow. In 1994, with the launch of at-home assistance services, the First Moscow Hospice began its work—later named after its founder Vera Millionshchikova. Today it is a model organization for palliative care in our country. Hospices in Russia are state free medical institutions. To ensure that every hospice—not only in Moscow, but across the entire country—becomes a real home that keeps the warmth of human life, no matter how much time remains—in hospices, employees and volunteers of the Vera Charitable Foundation work.
“Sometimes they find a little time to write down their impressions and memories, which we have gathered here with care. ‘To sweep away the husk, to help us slow down time and notice what’s essential—that’s why we planned this book.’” Nuta Federmesser, founder of the Vera Charitable Foundation.
