Childhood is the most wonderful time in each person’s life, but at the same time it is the hardest, because it is precisely in childhood that character is formed, the basics of morality are learned, and upbringing takes shape.

Since the earliest times, the question of raising children has been a central one for every society. It’s not easy to explain to a child the rules of life, the value of cultural traditions—and to do it in a form most suitable for children, that’s why fairy tales were invented.

Fairy tales are not made-up stories for children’s entertainment; they carry a deep meaning. Unfortunately, modern works have lost their main purpose—the purpose of teaching and upbringing. That is why children still find it more useful to read Russian folk tales: it is on them that many generations were raised—our grandmothers, our mothers, we. It was ancient folk creativity that gave us a moral foundation. Through them we learned to see the line between good and evil, to experience compassion, and we understood the importance of qualities such as respect, forgiveness, and much more. And that is why it is easiest for us to educate our own children using these fairy tales.

Many people still ask why our children should read and watch exactly Russian folk tales. There are several reasons. First of all, it is connected with cultural belonging: fairy tales of each country contain the foundations of that people’s morality, culture, and traditions, and for children it is better to get to know the culture of the country they live in. Another reason is that Russian fairy tales are easier for children to perceive—something very important for a child.
