The 9th volume of the book project “Nammedni” is about the vivid, turning-point, and tragic 1920s. Among the events—people—phenomena: “chubarovshchina” and Chamberlain, General Secretary Stalin and famine in the Volga region, “Dynamo” and Dovzhenko, GOELRO and GULag, Lenin’s death and the suicides of Yesenin and Mayakovsky, the NEP and Nansen, the “Beer Putsch” and Prompartiya, Meyerhold and Mikoyan, the Kronstadt uprising and collective farms, homeless children and “blat” songs, Chayanov and Chaplin, Kirov and constructivism. The decade’s phenomena are illustrated with photographs, posters, cartoons, paintings, drawings, and film stills from those years.
