A Weekend Trip to Marienburg

A book of reflections on literature and cinema tied to today’s realities; about the inner world of those whose childhood fell during perestroika and the “wild 90s.” The heroines of the book, librarian Lilia and journalist Nika, talk a lot about literature, but they aren’t detached from life—they live right amid events, find parallels with the present in the books they’ve read, and contemplate what it would be like for their favorite literary heroes in the 21st century… Spending weekends in a dacha settlement near Gatchina, Marienburg, the young women hold many conversations and debates, and in their arguments the truth is born. The book was written on the idea of my best friend. She is my reader—the most attentive and fair critic—and now, also, a co-author. Thank you! Previously published under the title “The Librarian.”
