Seventeen-year-old Taisia is receiving treatment in the children’s department of a psychiatric clinic. She has bulimia. The girls next door spend their days locked up and share stories with one another. Taya remembers last summer at the dacha: Zahar, the young man whose heart doesn’t beat evenly; Lyusya, her best friend. And she also thinks about the illness she has long been hiding from everyone. Now, retelling her story to the girls in the ward and, along the way, talking with a doctor, Taya gradually—one key after another—tries to find answers about her condition.
