In a city north of the Arctic Circle, every summer brought a season of fog. The peak of this phenomenon was called “the foggiest night of the year.” The townspeople hid in their homes and pulled down the shutters over the windows, because on that night in the fog, shadows appeared and dreadful voices repeated again and again: “We are your friends!” Those people who didn’t manage to hide disappeared forever.
