A Musician on Stage. How to Stop Worrying and Make Your Performance Unforgettable

3 hrs. 20 min.
Description
Worrying before public performances is something that’s common to all people. For musicians, those fears are compounded by the responsibility of not forgetting their part and playing it with the right emotions and rhythm.

An experienced teacher, Maria Matokh, tells how to overcome the psychological and physiological barriers before important exams, competitions, and concerts.

• What method will help you never forget the notes while playing—once and for all?
• What are “anchors” in pieces, and where can you find them?
• Do you need to create “sterile conditions” of silence during rehearsals?
• And how can a voice recorder and a camera become indispensable allies for important performances?

Each approach is illustrated with interesting examples from the author’s personal teaching practice.

Maria Sergeyevna Matokh is a teacher of the highest category for guitar. She graduated from the Minsk Music College named after Glinka and from the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts in the guitar program. For 20 years she worked at Children’s Music School No. 1 named after L. P. Aleksandrovskaya in Minsk. Among her students are laureates of republican and international competitions, including winners of festivals-competitions in Poland and Spain.

The book is intended for music school teachers, studio instructors, beginner performers, and everyone interested in learning about the musician’s work hidden from the public.
