The Borodino Battle Panorama Museum

1 hr. 50 min.
Language Russian
Description
The cycle program "The Keepers" tells about a unique museum devoted to the key event of the Patriotic War of 1812—the Battle of Borodino. It is precisely this battle that is depicted in the large-scale panorama by Franz Alekseevich Roubo, which became the museum’s main exhibit. Over time, it itself has become part of history, passing through periods of oblivion and triumphant return to the audience.

The difficult fate of this work, how the museum itself and its exhibition were created will be told by the chief keeper of the museum panorama and its leading staff.

A separate broadcast is dedicated to the Kutuzov’s House, where the famous Council in Fili took place—and which is now part of the museum.

In the conclusion, the participants of the program will try to answer the question: what were the participants of the War of 1812 like, and how did they differ from us, the present-day people?

Fragments of "flying" publications from the times of the Patriotic War of 1812 will be heard in the program, as well as excerpts from works by L. Tolstoy, A. Pushkin, and V. Zhukovsky performed by Andrey Danilyuk.

Participants of the program include:
Chief Keeper of the museum Lidiya Ivchenko
Museum research assistant Aleksei Monakhov
Keeper of the museum collection of rare books Nadezhda Shvedova
Head of the information and scientific department of the museum Lada Mіtroshenko va
