Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky (1863–1938) was a Russian theater director, actor, and teacher, a theorist and reformer of theater. He created the famous acting system, which has enjoyed enormous popularity in Russia and the world for 100 years. The first People’s Artist of the USSR (1936). In 1888, he became one of the founders of the Moscow Society of Art and Literature. In 1898, together with Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, he founded the Moscow Art Theatre.
