Russian writer, poet, and philosopher Andrei Bely was one of the leading figures of the domestic “second wave” of symbolism and developed a new aesthetic worldview. He wrote the historical epic “Moscow,” composed of the books “The Moscow Oddman,” “Moscow Under Attack,” and “Masks,” in opposition to his sensational novel about St. Petersburg.
In this work he brings into collision in Moscow two eras—the old pre-revolutionary and the new post-October.
