Alister MacLean (1922–1987) — a British novelist and screenwriter known for dynamic adventure novels. He wrote 28 works in the thriller genre that won readers around the world. The total circulation of his books exceeded 150 million copies, and based on his novels and screenplays, 18 films were made. In 1983, the writer was awarded a Doctor of Letters degree by the University of Glasgow.
