On the distant planet Oasis, in the future, lies the city of Paxton, known as Punktaun. It is a vast metropolis where people live alongside various alien creatures: plague-beasts with big mouths, tikkichotto with tentacles instead of eyes, “l’lev eds” whose bodies resemble melted wax, and many others. Life here is full of dangers: you can make works of art from your own clones, some districts are struck by viral cancer, and you can erase memory. The rituals of the aliens are shocking in their cruelty, yet they must be coexisted with. In this city, anything is possible—from magnificent to horrifying. One example is the story of clerk Christopher. His girlfriend decides to perform a ritual to summon a dark entity, which at first seemed like an harmless joke, but soon led to her changes. Before long, Christopher learns about the cult of the Ancient Gods—known to many of the alien peoples of Punktaun. He will have to study the book, from which the ritual was carried out, the “Necronomicon,” which, despite oblivion, keeps its power in a world of high technology, corporations, and space travel.
