The Washers. Supermarket Thieves

58 min.
Description
The play “The Launderers” by Yaroslava Pulynovich and Pavel Kazantsev took part in the “New Drama” festival. The word “launderers” in thieves’ slang refers to people who steal in supermarkets. The world is like a huge supermarket: some sell, others buy, and a third group refuses to accept the existing order. The main characters become “launderers” for different reasons and with different goals. For one, it is a whole philosophy—a protest against the capitalizing of the country; for another, a well-off young woman, it is either an escape from boredom or fear of losing her own money; for a third—a teenage girl—it becomes a way of life.
