Anna Grigoryevna Dostoevskaya was the second wife of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and the mother of his children. She is known as an editor and publisher of her husband’s creative legacy, a bibliographer, and author of valuable memoirs. “I admit frankly that my recollections contain many literary inaccuracies: the length of the stories, the imbalance of the chapters, an old-fashioned style, etc. But at seventy, learning something new is difficult, so please forgive these inaccuracies in light of my sincere and heartfelt desire to present F. M. Dostoevsky to readers—with all his merits and demerits—as he was in his family and private life.”
