From the story “My Notebooks,” we learn what importance he attached to his diaries. But most importantly, what Prishvin says there is his understanding of human talent: it consists in doing more than only what is necessary for oneself—“writer you are or shoemaker Tsiganok from Maryina Roshcha,” no matter what. Those words conclude the story.
