Vengeance Is Mine

Sergey Snegov is known primarily as a science-fiction writer, the author of famous novels “People Like Gods” and “The Dictator.” We’d like to introduce you to Sergey Snegov—the playwright. By his own definition, he wrote three tragedies of the spirit and three tragedies of everyday life. The play “Revenge is Mine...”, an audio version of which we are happy to present, belongs to the tragedies of the spirit. The story that became the trigger for its action is real—and that alone can completely change how we think about that era and the people living in it.

Moscow, 1955. A longtime friend of the protagonist—the professor Belogorov—returns from a camp. He has only one goal: to get revenge on everyone involved in his arrest. But in just one evening, he realizes there is no one to take revenge on. There are no good and bad, no heroes and criminals—everything is far more complex than the familiar binary system: yes-no, hero-traitor, white-black. There are always shades, nuances, and people who had to live precisely in that time and that country.
