In the global religious spectrum one can see a certain essential unity. It is determined by the very nature of religion, which relies on lived experience of faith. Faith, in turn, is above all a state of the spirit born from experiencing the reality of the Higher. Within it awakens a special kind of intuitive knowledge; something akin to a meeting takes place; a mysterious call sounds forth. The person answers this call: religious teachings—along with their metaphysics and ethics—are such answers. In them not only the mystical vision of faith is comprehended, but also an attempt is made to establish a “feedback connection” with that hidden Essence which touched the person with its influence.
The book includes lectures delivered by Archpriest (prot.) Alexander Men in 1989–1990. The text was prepared from tape recordings.
