A psychological drama about the difficult fate of a strong, self-centered woman who, at the end of her life, is left alone—unwilling to give in to her excessive pride and to tame her bad temper, so as not to warp the lives of her own children and grandchildren. The story spans the entire period of her adult life—sixty-seven years. A charming young girl, after finishing ten grades, breaks free from the Urals countryside at the end of the war and ends up first in Western Ukraine and then in the capital. Her ambitious plans—to become a singer—don’t come true, but the remarkable persistence and the sacred faith of this young provincial woman in her own exceptionality help her move confidently through life and achieve what she wants without being shy about the means. However, it brings her neither happiness nor warmth from loved ones, whom she casually pierces with poisonous thorns. Deep disappointment in her life in her later years is compounded by betrayal from her beloved heir—there’s no reason to live anymore.
