Francesco Piccolo is a prose writer and novelist, the author of screenplays for scores of films and TV series. He is the winner of one of the most prestigious literary awards—the Strega Prize—and of no less prestigious film awards, the David di Donatello. After the loud success of his book “Minutes of Everyday Happiness,” he continued working in the same playful mosaic genre, this time choosing as his subject everyday “misfortunes”—in other words, everything in daily life that can annoy a modern person. Funny moments of bad luck, memories of romantic failures, and witty observations come together into a new novel-collage built from real events from the author’s life. He tells about all his “misfortunes” with humor and a distinctly Italian, cheerful zest. In 2019, a film by director D. Luchetti—“Minutes of Everyday Happiness”—was released, based on plots from both twin books.
