Deifying gods—like humanizing the mortal—is a favorite pastime of Homo sapiens. We’re not given bread—give us something to turn into “a god” or to humanize the next heavenly being. That’s what they are made for—with that and they are born, to make “a fairy tale come true.” So the author, not wanting to fall behind his fellows, decided to give Greek myths their epic flavor and songlike rhythm, looking at ancient legends through the prism of satire.
