‘The Miserly Bourgeois of the Nobility’ is a brilliant, sparkling comedy by the classic of French literature Jean-Baptiste Molière. Attempts by an uneducated, ignorant, clumsy man with plenty of money to look like a nobleman cannot help but provoke laughter. The main character keeps finding himself in ridiculous situations, while those around him never miss the chance to take advantage of his mania for their own benefit.
Molière’s comedies are funny at all times, but in these days of crazy money, when ‘the cream of society’ falls from nowhere, they feel especially relevant.
