A girl from a poor family, Price, goes to live permanently with her wealthy relatives from Mansfield Park. The Bertrams (except her cousin Edmund) treat her with contempt, because the girl is poor and dependent—meaning she is powerless. And, receiving a marriage proposal, she must decide: choose wealth and well-being, or listen to unrequited love.
