The novel’s events take place in 1996 in Moscow, Paris, and Nice. Catherine is a young, beautiful, intelligent girl who lives in Moscow. Soon she will turn thirty. She is fully realized in her profession and has achieved a lot. Yet her happiness seems to have gotten lost somewhere… or is missing. Henri is a hereditary aristocrat, a Parisian; he has many victories and successes behind him. His brother and sister are accomplished people, and warm relationships have formed between them. But Henri has never met his other half. He is forty-four years old. He and she wander through the labyrinths of fate like lost little stars. One stormy autumn evening, their chance meeting will take place—and will surprise both of them. What awaits young people? Will fate be kind to them? Will they be destined to become happy?
