Bears Discover Fire

This story gathered an unimaginable number of SF awards and sparked plenty of discussion. Some will call it a tear-jerking elegy, others will see it as the loss of a dream of America. But one fact remains: the bears went to winter in the woods—and instead of that they began exploring the strips of forest bordering highways. And most importantly, many saw them both with torches in their hands and sitting in a circle by the campfire. The bears, it seems, got what we humans have lost—the art of enjoying one another’s company and the warm fire in the woods.
