Description
Rabindranath Tagore is a widely known figure not only in his native India, but throughout the world. Writer, poet, artist, composer, public figure—surprisingly, all these talents fit into one person. Thanks to him, literature and music in Bengal were formed, and the high spirituality of his personality gave birth to a special philosophy. Tagore became the first Asian whose achievements in poetic and artistic creation were considered so significant for the whole world that he was awarded the Nobel Prize. Tagore belongs to exactly those people for whom you can say: a talented person is talented in everything. He wrote prose, poems, epics, novels, and novellas; did scientific work and public activity; composed music and painted pictures. He is the author of the poem «Jananaganamana», which later became India’s anthem. In total, Tagore composed about 2230 songs and wrote so many works that they barely fit into fifteen volumes. About 2500 drawings produced by his own hand were featured in exhibitions in different countries around the world.
