A naturalist by vocation and a passionate defender of the wild, he created a concept of preserving rare animal species, which is successfully used today in many countries. An tireless traveler and zoologist, he visited almost the entire world, filming more than 30 films about its most exotic corners. Creator of the famous Jersey Zoo and the Wildlife Conservation Fund, he saved from extinction several species of marmosets and lemurs, the Madagascan radiated tortoise, the pink pigeon, an Australian frog, and many other inhabitants of the planet. And Gerald Durrell also left us his books. In each of them there are inexhaustible reserves of humor, sparkling charm, and active love for all kinds of animals.
